Synopsis: The Books of Broadway is a cabaret style revue that highlights selected bodies of literature that have inspired Broadway musicals.  Featuring small excerpt narrations from the books themselves, the Books of Broadway will transport the audience from the written page to the living stage in what will be a heartwarming, toe-tapping experience.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Review the available song list below. If you would like to listen to a recorded version there is a YouTube playlist of all the songs.

  2. Complete the Audition Form at the bottom of this page (or on Airtable here).

    • Note ANY and ALL dates/times you have conflicts on your online audition form below.

    • Indicate on your audition form 2-3 songs from the list of available show songs that you would be interested/willing to sing. You may not necessarily get cast in the song that you audition with, and you should expect the possibility receiving a different or multiple songs.  Please check 2-3 songs from the list that you might want to do - but please audition with the one song you really want to do the most.

  6. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE AUDITION DATES: We will accept a video audition. Record yourself on your phone - introduce yourself, your song selection, and sing ONE MINUTE of your song.  Upload the video to google drive or icloud and share a link to the video with ValleyMusicalTheatre@gmail.com and with kelledvorak@outlook.com.  Video auditions must be received by September 11 to be considered.

AUDITION TIPS:

  1. Please come to audition with the karaoke track of the song you are auditioning with. We are not providing an accompanist, however, if you would like to bring your own accompanist that would also like to be in the show, please do so. (Note—this is a lightly rehearsed show, both actor and accompanist must be experienced.) You may audition for multiple numbers, however, please but sure to fill out multiple audition time slots.

  2. If the song is a duet and you want to prepare to sing the song with another actor and audition together you may. Each actor must still fill out their own audition paperwork, but you may sign up for one audition slot.

  3. There is flexibility allowed in casting.  Songs do not necessarily need to be sung by a person of the gender it was originally written for.  What is important is that you choose a song that showcases your vocal range well, and that your acting choices make sense.

  4. Minor students may bring one parent/guardian with you during the audition.
